Our firm successfully resolved a medical malpractice lawsuit after a patient suffered permanent nerve damage during a routine carpal tunnel release surgery. During the procedure, the surgeon severed the median nerve, causing chronic pain, numbness, weakness, loss of hand function, and permanent impairment.
The evidence showed the nerve injury was not recognized during surgery, delaying critical treatment and repair. Even after the patient repeatedly complained of severe pain, burning, electric shock sensations, and loss of function, the injury was not timely diagnosed. A later surgical exploration confirmed the median nerve had been lacerated during the procedure.
As a result of the injury, our client underwent additional surgeries and continues to experience chronic hand pain, weakness, impaired grip strength, difficulty performing daily activities, insomnia, and ongoing medical needs.
Through the settlement, we secured compensation to help provide for future medical care, pain management, rehabilitation, and long-term financial support.
