Our firm successfully resolved a medical malpractice case after a vein procedure intended to treat varicose veins and venous reflux caused devastating and permanent vascular injuries.
The evidence showed the physician used the VenaSeal Closure System to seal a vein that was not diseased, allowing the medical adhesive to migrate into the deep venous system and completely block major veins in the leg. Shortly after the procedure, our client developed severe swelling, discoloration, pain, and extensive deep vein thrombosis (DVT) involving the femoral and popliteal veins.
Despite multiple hospitalizations, blood thinner treatment, clot-dissolving procedures, and vascular surgeries, the clots could not be successfully removed. Our client continues to suffer chronic pain, swelling, impaired mobility, and permanent vascular damage and must remain on lifelong anticoagulation medication.
Through litigation, we secured compensation to help provide for future medical care, treatment, pain management, and long-term financial support.
