What Happened
Our firm successfully resolved a catastrophic medical malpractice case after hospital providers failed to timely recognize and treat a life-threatening brain bleed in a patient receiving Heparin after head trauma.
The evidence showed the patient developed a sudden, severe 10/10 headache while hospitalized on a Heparin drip after suffering a fall and head injury. Despite clear warning signs of an intracranial hemorrhage, nurses delayed notifying the physician and the treating doctor failed to come to bedside, order a repeat CT scan, or stop the blood thinner.
Over the next several hours, the untreated bleed progressed into a massive intracranial hemorrhage causing seizures, hydrocephalus, ischemic strokes, and permanent brain damage.
As a result, our client suffered severe cognitive impairment, memory loss, personality changes, loss of independence, and now requires lifelong supervision and ongoing medical care.
