What Happened
Our firm successfully resolved a catastrophic medical malpractice case after an orthopedic surgeon mistakenly cut and removed a portion of a patient's median nerve during surgery intended to repair elbow instability.
During the procedure, the surgeon intended to harvest a tendon graft but instead harvested a significant portion of the median nerve, causing devastating and permanent nerve damage. The injury was not recognized during surgery and remained undiagnosed for months, delaying any opportunity for timely repair.
As a result, our client suffered permanent weakness, loss of hand and arm function, chronic pain, severe neuropathy, and lifelong impairment affecting daily activities and employment. Experts concluded the injury was preventable and caused by the surgeon's failure to properly identify the anatomy during the procedure.
